Frequently asked questions

Our Governance and Advisory team have many years of senior management and governance experience and a deep understanding of the challenges facing business owners and leaders.  Our approach is to work alongside you, your other Advisors or Directors to clarify the long term priorities, and work with you and them to ensure long term success.

This will come down to what you are looking for or needing from your Governance team be that an Advisory Board, Board of Directors, Council or Governance Committee.

Ask yourself what areas of business or professional expertise are you looking for to augment or create your Governance team. Is it Financial, Sales and Marketing, Product Development, or Operational? Are you looking for Exporting or other specific market expertise around target segments or geographies? Or is it more about helping you to scale your business?

Once you are clear on your key requirements then we invite you to reach out and have a no-obligation conversation with us to see if we are a good option for you. We stand behind our expertise, experience and track record of providing effective Governance and advice to many businesses and understand that this process of finding the right person for you is very much a two-way street and will likely take a few conversations together to work out if there is a good fit or not. We are happy to invest this time with you to make sure you are comfortable with engaging (or not).

There will generally be two or three initial conversations or face to face meetings to start the process of getting to know each other and clarify the brief and what you are looking for in terms of capability and outcomes.

We then discuss and document a scope of work in an Engagement Agreement and make sure we both understand and agree with the scope, engagement plan, objectives, timeline and pricing.

We will also make sure that you remain comfortable with the level of progress and value contributed along the journey by checking in with you regularly to review progress.

To help with peace of mind around choosing the right Governance Advisor we will also agree a date up to which we will work with you and give you the opportunity to see us in action. If you don’t believe sufficient value has been or will be delivered then you can terminate the agreement by the agreed review date and we will end the engagement, wish you well and not charge for any services delivered up to that point.

The shape and approach for each Governance engagement is tailored to suit the requirements and outcomes being sought.

Initially there will be some “fact finding” and “getting to know each other” discussions and if you are interested to proceed with an engagement we would agree a plan of action with you covering the scope, key activities and Engagement Agreement.

The Governance meeting cadence will be guided by your existing process or if not yet established worked out together based on the outcomes being sought and the timeframe involved.

Engagements will typically have a minimum of a 12 month term but can be terminated with a months notice or have a shorter initial term by agreement.

When we decide to work together, we agree:

  1. A Client Engagement Agreement, and
  2. An engagement plan which includes the activities to be undertaken by you and your team and where, when and how we will be involved.

Based on this plan we will also define a “review” date. If you determine there has been insufficient value delivered as of the review date and there is little or no benefit to you or your business in Management Response continuing its involvement, we will immediately end the engagement. Naturally, we would like to understand your reason whilst accepting your decision, and we will immediately end the engagement with a handshake and not charge for any services provided to that point.
